Brand and Social Impact Strategist

Mimo Haile-Smith is a purpose-driven strategist dedicated to sparking meaningful social change through equity-driven initiatives and community engagement. With a background in violence prevention, HIV research in Africa, and homelessness advocacy, Mimo has spent years leading impactful programs that address systemic issues. As a co-founder of the Coco Coalition, a nonprofit supporting women from the African Diaspora, she creates spaces for wellbeing, empowerment, and solidarity.

At Pastilla, Mimo helps businesses and nonprofits craft strategies that drive social impact, partnering with organizations like Black Girls Code to support STEAM education for underrepresented youth. Her work includes developing strategic frameworks, fostering cross-sector partnerships, and ensuring measurable, long-term community engagement. She thrives in Pastilla’s dynamic and innovative environment, where fresh ideas and collaboration fuel every project.

Originally from Ethiopia, Mimo moved to the U.S. at 13 and has been passionate about advocacy from a young age—winning a middle school debate against child marriage in rural Ethiopia, which ignited her path in social impact work. Outside of work, she enjoys martial arts, video games, and spending time with her son, Yoshi.
