Shaping the Future By Rebranding California’s Capital Library System
The Sacramento Public Library Authority partners with Pastilla to pen their new chapter in branding
For nearly a century and a half, the Sacramento Public Library Authority (SPLA) has served as a community hub for knowledge and learning. Maintaining 28 locations, the SPLA now serves over 1.4 million residents across its 975-square-mile service region, making it the fourth-largest library system in California. As with many legacy institutions, the rise of technology and readily-accessible information have radically redefined the library and the services it provides.
A modern library is more than just a collection of books; it’s a learning and culture center for adults, children, immigrants, content creators, musicians, and so much more! With vastly diverse offerings catering to an equally diverse population, the SPLA is seeking a new brand identity that more accurately represents the diversity, inclusivity, and variety that is so integral to its DNA.
That’s where Pastilla comes in
We are proud to have been selected to work with the SPLA in a community-forward effort to redefine the look and feel of the Authority’s identity.
“This project holds immense importance as it represents the power of knowledge, community, diversity, and accessibility,” says Pastilla co-founder, Rudy Manning.
“We are thrilled to embark on this transformative journey, equipped with our passion for design, and storytelling.
Together, we will create a new brand & identity system that resonates with the diverse Sacramento community, fostering a renewed love for information and learning in the digital age.”
Just as the community is core to the Authority’s growth as a service provider, at Pastilla, we will turn to Sacramento residents to inform the Authority’s evolution as a brand. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to leverage our expertise in audience-led research to fuel the creation of a logo and brand system that can serve the library today and well into the future.
