In partnership with the Research Center for Health Equity (RCHE) at Cedars Sinai Cancer, Pastilla is developing a digital application that will be utilized as a central feature of a ten-year research initiative linking youth sports to a brighter future for Los Angeles.

This initiative, ShineLA, is a multi-level, multi-sectoral, and scientifically rigorous approach to filling an important gap in the knowledge base of the complex interplay between policy, neighborhood/community, family, and individual factors that influence physical activity.

Under RCHE’s leadership and in collaboration with the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and ParksMayor Garcetti’s officeArtCenter College of DesignDiscovery Cube, and Garmin, this will be the largest population-based study of physical activity in the US.

Through an iterative process, we will help support RCHE as they aim to improve physical and mental health, as well as social connection across all populations in Los Angeles, for a sustained impact through 2028 and beyond.

Ultimately, the goal of ShineLA is to transform the culture of LA to be a city that embraces physical activity at all levels and celebrates all cultures as it embarks on this transformation.

At Pastilla, we are thrilled to be helping build a stronger sense of community through the digital components of the initiative that will serve as a conduit to integrating this large, multi-sectoral approach across Los Angeles.
