As communities across California gear to reopen, Pastilla is excited to announce it will partner closely in a community-led effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve the economic and public health of Watts residents.
The Watts Rising Collaborative is the product of decades of community leadership, academic research, and community surveys made in partnership with Watts residents, 40+ organizations, the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, the Mayor’s Office, and Council District 15.
Watts Rising is supported by California Strategic Growth Council’s Transformative Climate Communities program with funds from California Climate Investments, a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment – particularly in disadvantaged communities.
Pastilla is honored to join the collaborative as a serious-minded agency partner, bringing our 8 years of experience in the public sector and passion for cultural and personal diversity, to the creative and digital services we’ll provide. These include, but are not limited to, audience research, brand strategy, graphic design, web design and development, marketing strategy, and community outreach. Under the guidance of Watts Rising residents and leadership, Pastilla will intimately root ourselves in the community and work thoughtfully and inclusively to serve the complex and social equity needs within Watts.
Together we’ll provide creative support to a series of 24 community-identified infrastructure projects that expand urban agriculture and access to healthy organic produce, provide more affordable and sustainable housing, increase low- and no- carbon transportation options, increase community green space, expand Watts’ tree canopy, and make Watts streets safer for walking and biking.
Visit their PROJECTS page for more information on the community-identified infrastructure projects coming to Watts.
The Collaborative of project partners, with Pastilla’s partnership, is excited to officially re-open to the public this summer through a series of safe and engaging mini events both virtual and in person.
